Sunday, September 1
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Rolling Ridge Study Retreat (near Harpers Ferry, WV)

Once you learn to twine, everything will be fine! Twining is a method of weaving that can be done with numerous locally foraged materials. We will meet several plants in the woods and meadow that can be harvested and prepared at home for twining. Then we will walk through the technique and have the opportunity to create a basket or two in a variety of shapes and sizes.

This weaving style lets you incorporate movement in your design (a lot like pottery!) and add accent colors by using multiple plant species in your basket. All experience levels are welcome, and youth are welcome to attend with the supervision of an accompanying adult (free for ages 12 and under).

$75; scholarships are available

Instructor Luke Bauer is a basket maker, forager, woods wanderer, educator, and permaculturist. He has been working at connecting himself and others to the local landscape for more than a decade. He leads workshops on basket-making, plant identification, ancestral skills, and wilderness awareness.
